Johnny Danworth R.I.P.

The interwebs have been buzzing the past few days over celebrating the musical genius of J. Dilla and the 10 year anniversary of Big Pun's death. However yesterday as I logged on to "teh" Strut I learned of the passing of Jazz man Johnny Dankworth. Dankworth had a Jazz career spanning decades playing the Sax, clarinet, and composing. Dankworth was also husband to legendary Jazz singer Cleo Laine and can be sited as a sample source for many producers most notably Dj Primer and The Gorillaz. Dankworth's music was ahead of it's time with the classic "Rites of Ashes" sounding like a soulful video game sound track:

Not gonna front I discovered this song off the Dusty Fingers Comp #3... Damu the Fudge Monk flipped the it for Y Society's "Never Off":
